Lot #11: Kirk Space Suit Model
Images
Description
Production-made figure in space suit with fully poseable internal metal armature. Legs, arms and body sides are foam latex painted off-white and burgundy. Helmet and main body are cast resin painted white with clear plastic faceplate. Head of figure is detached from main body and secured to the inside of helmet. The waistline of the figure is an aluminum plate with threaded holes for stand attachment. Motors and electronics are present inside main body but remain untested. Condition is excellent but set wear and some cracked paint are present. Measures 11" wide and 25" tall.
Notes
Filming miniature of James T. Kirk in an environmental suit from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. After Spock's secret journey to meld with V'ger renders him helpless and floating in space, Kirk rescues him wearing this EV suit. Although the figure's head is a likeness of William Shatner, producton later added a mustache and beard so this model could be reused in the scene where V'ger attacks a space station and overtakes a desperate worker on the outer hull. From the collection of Doug Drexler.
