Description

Production made squid-like device with yellow bulbous head covered in a clear plastic shroud with pointed fins and black airbrushing, one fin is broken off and stuck to the body and the shroud is cracked in the same area, head is covered with latex skin, the head lights up with an on/off switch under the tentacles, functionality is verified, near the center of the squid is a series of six green handle-like protrusions, below the head the body is painted silver and has six sets of flexible silver plastic tentacles, there is a 2in hole in the base of the body under the tentacles. Prop shows wear from production use. Measures approx. 37in long with an 8in diameter.

The cornerstone of Ancient defense technology, introduced as a CG effect in the SG-1 Season Seven episode “Lost City” and seen in this practical version in the Atlantis pilot, “Rising”. Dr. Peter Grodin examines the device in detail in an early scene. Shortly afterward, this prop skitters across the frozen wastes of Antarctica, just short of General O’Neill. The head of the device is made of clear plastic, with six sets of flexible plastic tentacles. Prop is capable of lighting, but functionality is unverified. Measures 37in × 8in in diameter.
